Nangma Valley Trek:

Thaly La Trek
Thalay La Trek is gaining popularity as a top destination in Baltistan for short excursions. It’s an easy 3-4 day trek through Thalle Pass (4,572m), connecting Shigar and Khaplu valleys. Highlights include stunning mountain views, visits to landmarks like Chaqchan Monastery, and stays in luxurious hotels like Shigar Fort and Khaplu Palace. While staying in Skardu, tourists have plenty of time to explore nearby attractions like Thalay La Trek, Marsur Rock, etc. These are the easiest, most economical, and interesting treks to do during free time in Skardu.

When you reach Islamabad, AMT representative will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel. Islamabad is the capital of Pakistan, and it’s near the Himalayas. The city is busy with lots of places to eat, drink coffee, and shop.
Option A: The plan is for the whole group to catch an early morning flight to Skardu (55 minutes), the largest city in Baltistan. If the weather is clear, we can enjoy incredible views of Nanga Parbat and other massive peaks. In Skardu, guests will have free time to rest and explore the city and bazaar. We’ll finalize trekking permits and have dinner together as a group, where you’ll meet the trekking staff.
Option B: If we can’t take the flight, we might have to drive overland to Skardu from Islamabad (20-22 hours). AMT staff will decide the best option for the group. We’d sleep in Chilas overnight to break up the drive before continuing to Skardu the next day. Flying is the preferred choice if possible.
Today, the AMT team is busy food shopping and packing all of the group supplies. Guests have free time in the city during the morning and early afternoon. In the late afternoon (time permitting), we will visit the Kharpocho Fort as a group for those who want to come. After excursion we will have dinner again as a group before setting off in the morning. If the group is arriving overland from Islamabad, the entire schedule is bumped back a day, to allow for a day of rest in Skardu (that is why we schedule in buffer days!)
Today, our adventure begins in earnest! Our team will assemble early at the hotel and after breakfast, we will load up the 4×4 jeeps and begin embark our full day jeep drive 5-6 hrs through amazing Gangche valleys and beautiful villages to Kandy, the 2nd last inhabitant on our way to the Nangma valley. Enjoy a stunning Masherbrum from this village. Stay in camp.
After breakfast, we will begin our trek to Minguloo Broq at around 6:30 to 7:00 am. Following the thorough organization of our equipment, supplies, and porter loads, we’ll embark on a relatively easy trek lasting approximately 4 to 5 hours. This scenic journey will lead us to the lush greenery of Minguloo Broq camp, a central point for reaching the base camps of the entire Nangma mountain range. We will spend the night at the campsite.
After a light breakfast, we will commence our hike between 7:30 to 8:00 am. Our path will lead us straight to Nangma Valley via a very easy trail, meandering through a unique jungle and trees. The trek is expected to last approximately 2 to 3 hours until we reach our campsite at the wonderful Nangma. Upon arrival, take some time to freshen up, relax, and perhaps indulge in some reading. Later, we can ascend the rocky stones to the beautiful green pastures, where we can enjoy singing and dancing with the porters.
Today, we will surely enjoy a delightful walk up to the stunning Nangma hills, where you’ll be treated to incredible views of the Nangma mountains, including Amin Braq, Braq Zang, Shinguchatpa, and K-6. Take some time to soak in the scenery, capture memorable photographs, and cherish the moment. After the excursion, we’ll return to the campsite. You can freshen up, relax, and perhaps indulge in some reading. Later, we can climb the rocky stones to reach the beautiful green pastures, where we can enjoy singing and dancing with the porters!
After breakfast, we’ll begin our trek around 7:30 am towards Kandy. It’s a 3 hour descent to reach the jeep-accessible village, with a moderately easy walk. This marks the end of our wonderful trek in the Nangma Valley. Here, you’ll bid farewell to our team of porters before we head back to Khaplo so on Thaly village by jeep, which will take about 3-4 hours. We’ll have lunch in the village of Kandy. Once we reach the village In thaly, get ready for a Re camping at Thalay Broq.
After breakfast packing and distribution the luggage to the porter and trek to Dubla Khan, and overnight in tents. This is full open sky and green pastures stream water side by side while trekking towards the top.
After easy breakfast Trek to Thallay La, By trekking two hours we will be at the top of the Thallay La (4572 M). Masherbrum range and Mango Gusor (6288 m) can be seen from top. The view is fantastic and majestic. After a short stay, we will start trekking towards Deserpa, which is an ideal campsite and summer pasture. Overnight in the tents.
Trek down to Shigar village and drive to Skardu. Overnight in Hotel.
Flight to Islamabad if cancelled the flight then drive to Naran or Chilas.
After early breakfast leave to Islamabad for 7-hours drive
Transfer to Airport and have a sage journey to your home.Goodby

Recently, the government has launched a new visa portal and made the visa obtaining procedure easier for 175 countries where you can fill up an online application and submit it to get a tourist visa. Before you can even apply you need to get a letter of invitation (LOI) from ASIAN MOUNTAIN TOURS, basically we will accept responsibility for you. The process is pretty straight forward. The total trek covers about 167 kilometers over the course of 12 days – with the highest max altitude on the trek GondogoroLa 5,584 meters
Breakfast:Typically includes an omelet/fried eggs, fried Pakistani bread (paratha) chai/ coffee, tea etc.
Lunch: Will include a mix of local bread, noodle soup, tinned fish, biscuits, crackers, cheese, and green tea / chai.
Dinner: mix of vegetables, rice, noodle dishes, daal, meat (mutton or chicken), and other tasty dishes served up by our experienced cook and crew.

If you cancel your participation 30 days before the trip we charge a 15% deduction, 15 days before the trip means a 35% deduction and no refunds are offered if you cancel your participation 7 days or less.
